I've noticed rightists tend to refer to three types of "leftists" which makes them sound very ignorant and lazy. Yeah I know i'm lumping rightists as well now but IMO they all tend do this whether they are alt-rightists, old school conservatives or libertarians.
1. "SJWs", the "PC elite", or "cultural-marxists". Basically if you have liberal views and if you're against racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination there's a big chance that you get lumped into this group. Thing is, holding liberal views doesn't necessarily mean that you are left wing.
2. "Communists". Accusing all left leaning people for being communists is something I mostly see conservatives doing. Very amusing and sounds mostly like hysteria. They often bring up Stalin, North Korea and oppression of human rights and free speech. Ironically these conservatives are often very passive when it comes to human rights and are very silent when it comes to right wing dictators and especially if theses dictators serve their interests.
People who identify as downright communists are few as well as Stalin admirers so they can't be seen as a threat. You might find them in Russia and often among people who are pro-Putin at the same time because they are nostalgic and dream back at the time when Russia was still a superpower. The biggest left wing extremist movement is Antifa but they don't have any influence on mainstream politics at all.
3. "Mainstream media", "the establishment". This is the one that makes me the most confused. The left is by no means the "establishment" from my perspective, quite the contrary since right wing politics and neoliberalism has been the consensus in the Western world for a long time. Also what these people don't get is that a lot of people that identify as leftists are anti-establishment and against globalization and have been for a long time. That's why lots of leftist parties around Europe are against the EU. The global justice movement is a leftist anti-globalization movement. One difference is that leftists are anti-globalists for different reasons than right wing anti-globalists. If you're anti-Trump you might get lumped into this group.
Do you agree with this or have I missed something?
